Somerset West auction will bring antiques, collectables and household furniture to market

Michael James Organisation will host an auction of antiques, collectables and beautiful household furniture at its Somerset West premises on Tuesday, 9 May.

The highlights of the auction will include a rare military campaign chest, a hand-decorated Chinese wedding chest and an inlaid writing desk, says the auction house’s Samantha James.

“The household goods on offer will cover the spectrum from a Victorian centre tableto modern household furniture, patio furniture, art and décor items, and branded repossessed appliances.”

Among the items likely to be of interest to collectors are hallmarked German and English silver and silver plate; cut glass and lead crystal pieces; and Royal Albert, Shelley, Kaizer, Delft and Noritake dinner, tea and coffee services, she adds.

In addition, a large selection of smalls, tools, hardware and gardening equipment will go under the hammer.

The auction will be held at MJO Auction Centre, 63 Victoria Street, Somerset West at 10am on 9 May, with daily viewing from 9am to 4pm.

A detailed catalogue will also be available for download from www.michaeljames.co.za.

The auction terms require payment of a refundable deposit of R5 000 on registration, with the balance payable immediately after the auction by cash, credit card or EFT.
