Lady Plattner, owner of one of the finest golf resorts, Fancourt, situated on the beautiful world famous garden route of the Western Cape in George once again hosted her annual fundraiser for children’s welfare with guests traveling from all around the country to attend.

The theme this year was different in many ways and Sabina Plattner wanted to involve the whole George community. Indeed she did and the event which was called "Unwasted Talent" incorporated a magnificent array of chandeliers and décor all made from recycled bottles or plastic, or tyres and bits of unused paraphernalia.

Auctioneer, Joey Burke from Michael James Organisation along with the host Evita Bezuidenhout and Ian Von Memmerty contributed towards making the event a truely warm and entertaining evening.

Joey Burke's passion and enthusiasm combined with entertainment and chanting was able to entice the guests into a wild bidding frenzy where he raised 1.6 million rand for child welfare.

The auctioneer sold a chandelier made from champagne bottles for R200 000 and a week end with Formula one driving sensation Kimi Raikonnen for R340 000 as well as Evita herself for a whopping R330 000.

Michael James Organisation’s social responsibility program extends to over 200 charities a year raising millions of Rands for very deserving causes.

Joey Burke who is also Michael James Organisation’s Business Development Manager is never satisfied at these events unless he leaves having achieved the charities target or more for the evening. Now known as South Africa's celebrity auctioneer, Joey Burke has raised nearly 10 million Rands in the last two years and when he is not selling real estate by auction he is chanting for charity.
